SMM024 Installation of Underground Fiber Plant – Marshfield to Preston

Description: Sho-Me proposes to deploy a fiber-based middle-mile network in a 30-county region of Missouri to expand broadband capabilities. Project construction will consist of 1,380 fiber miles of which about 500 miles is to be new build, characterization of 17 existing fiber segments, 15 new PoP shelters, 19 existing PoP locations, 82 DWDM degrees and 41 spans.
This request for bid (RFB) issued by Sho-Me to solicit bids for contractors who wish to provide
labor & equipment to install the Sho-Me supplied innerduct, vaults, 72 fiber shielded
underground fiber optic cable to construct the proposed fiber optic back bone. The
Contractor will submit a proposed bid and procedure of the installation of approximately
156,529 feet or 29.65 miles of underground construction of innerduct, fiber, markers and vaults.
The proposed route will connect to the existing backbone already in service by Sho-Me located
at the Buffalo PoP shelter, Urbana PoP shelter, and near the intersection of US Highway 65
and Highway O. Construction will consist of two phases.
The Phase 1 segment of the project involves deployment of approximately 69,831 feet or 13.22
miles of underground construction to begin at Sho-Me’s Buffalo GFRC and progress
southward predominantly along US Highway 65 ending near the intersection at
Highway O (see Phase 1 As-built Construction Maps). The bid will be for the route.
The bid units will be for changes from the proposed route. Construction of Phase 1
segment of the project must be completed by October 31, 2012.
The Phase 2 segment of the project involves deployment of approximately 86,698 feet or 16.43 miles of
underground construction to begin at Sho-Me’s Buffalo PoP shelter and progressing northward
predominantly along US Highway 65 ending at the Urbana PoP shelter (see Phase 2 As-built
Construction Maps). The bid will be for the route. The bid units will be for changes from the proposed
route. Construction of Phase 2 segment of the project must be completed by December 31,
2012.
